B&W 65-070053 Review by Simon

The lens filter is in tip top condition and has no difference to a new one. I have not tried it out yet but apparently it looks more than perfect. I am very lucky to get this product and looking forward for the used B+W 52mm CPL & 58mm UV and CPL.

B&W 65-070053 Review by TreeFrog

A shop I used recommended this to avoid wiping the coating off on the glass when cleaning over time, so I picked it up here on Amazon for slightly less. I have this in front of my EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM which is paired to a 7d. I'm a newbie DSLR guy and I'm really not sure what difference this makes in images; then again I am hard pressed to notice any difference when the IS on the lens itself is on or off. In short, don't make the decision to buy this filter (or not buy it) based on my review alone.

B&W 65-070053 Review by V. Mekkat "sparseseller" (Minneapolis, MN, USA)

I have been a user of the cheap Tiffen filters. When I bought my first over $500 lens, decided to try something better. B+W was an obvious choice from reviews and how correct they are. When I opened the box and took the filter in my hands, for a moment I thought that the filter just had the ring and didn't have the glass. The glass was that clear.

I must say that being single coated, I do get the occasional glare. Should try out the multi coated one for my next lens.

In short, if you are buying a good lens, don't spoil it with a bad filter on the front.

B&W 65-070053::Description

This UV Filter blocks the invisible UV component of light from the sky, which can cause blur and to which many color films react with a blue cast. These filters should be called UV-Blocking Filters, because there are filters for technical applications that pass UV radiation and block all the other wavelengths. Nevertheless, the short term "UV Filter" has become established among photographers. UV Filters are ideal for photography in high altitudes (in the mountains), by the sea and in regions with very clean air. The pictures gain brilliance and disturbing blue casts are avoided. Because the glass is colorless, color rendition is not altered, aside from the elimination of the unwanted blue cast, and no increase in exposure is required. That makes a UV Filter very suitable as protection of the front element of the taking lens against dust, flying sand, sea water spray and the like, and it can be kept on the lens at all times. It is recommended for analog color and black-and-white as well as digital photography.
